So! Apologies in advance, because I'm sure this information is readily available, but I haven't had much luck finding it.

In terms of preamble, I bought GW when it first came out, played it for three days, then put it aside for non-gaming related reasons (ie: my son). I did the same thing with Factions, this time for gaming related reasons (ie: WoW... please don't hurt me).

I just picked up Nightfall, and I'm going to make a damn fine effort to actually play through all the GW content I now own... my stupid noob question is this. If I play through Prophecies, can I use that same character to explore Factions and Nightfall content? And for that matter, could I use a Factions/Nightfall character to go back and explore Prophecies content?

Yes on all counts. There are quests in each that will allow you to open up travel to the other 2.

Yes, as long as you linked each new chapter to your original GW account. This is done by using the Add a Key function on the login screen.

If you didn't, then you will need to contact PlayNC.com support for help in linking the accounts.

Actually, you can explore all 3 games with 1 character but there is additional content in each game that is accessible only to "native" characters. Mainly the beginner sections in each game. If you want to do all the quests and such, then create a character in each game. After all, you want more than 1 character anyways, right?

Prophecies - Pre-Searing, all quests in Ascalon and Northen Shiverpeaks.
Factions - All quests on Shing Jea Island
Nightfall - Most quests in Istan.

If your character is a Prophercies character then you will need to see Lionguard Figo at Lions Arch. He will give you the quest to travel to Elona. Firstwatch Sergio gives you the quest to travel to Cantha.

For Tyrian or Elonian chacacters goto Kaineng Docks (via The Marketplace) to get to Shing Jea Island.

Nightfall characters can get to Kaineng Center through talking to Funwa Shento in Kamadan after completing the War Preparations quests.

From the Factions Campaign, follow through the quest Sunspears in Cantha, which can be acquired from Imperial Guardsman Linro in Kaineng Center and this will take you to Kamadan.
